Hi! I’m Danielle. Thanks for reading! Here’s a little about me.

First, I’m a 2013 alumni of the College of Idaho, where I majored in English Literature and proudly led the student newspaper, The Coyote, for two years.

Bookmarking my C of I senior year, I completed two children’s editorial internships, hoping to land a position in publishing. In 2014, however, I veered onto a different path, choosing to marry the love of my life and make a home in Idaho. It’s a beautiful state, but sadly not a bustling hub for publishing. No matter! I began freelancing as a copyeditor and proofreader in 2014, and have been privileged to work on all kinds of YA and middle grade titles, from The Boxcar Children to Miss Bunsen's School for Brilliant Girls.

Also in 2014, I began working full time as a ghostwriter for a newsletter company. It turns out that even at 22, I was a dead ringer for 40-year-old dentists and realtors.

In time, I transitioned to editing, then SEO writing, and then content marketing. I gained a reputation as a star interviewer with a knack for human interest stories. I also honed my skills as a researcher, blogger, technical writer, and project owner.

Finally, in 2021, I left my 9-5 to stay home with my son, James, who was born in November 2020. I published my first book, The Stories Behind the Stories, with a publisher I’d met through my freelance editing. That year, The Idaho Center for the Book chose my book as its “Great Reads from Great Places” pick for the National Book Festival. That has led to many incredible opportunities, including public speaking events and being a judge for the 2023 Lee Bennett Hopkins Award.

Now, I guess you could say I’m in the next chapter of my life: being a mom to two amazing kids (Lydia was born in March 2024!) and trying to make my way as a published children’s book author.
